Event Description: Big Fat Buddha is an Alaskan based rock/funk band that has their roots deep in the groove. Formed in 2010 when bassist Brad Fidel put an ad on craigslist looking for musicians that were into The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and James Brown. Singer/song writer Matt Brenna answered the ad and the two hit it off immediately! Percussionist Jeff Arms who played with Fidel on a previous project, heard what Brenna and Fidel were up to, signed on and the three became the core of Buddha.

Drummer Kyle Drake of Bare Roots is the newest member of the Buddha Family.

When not climbing, skiing, or fishing, the guys are playing music together.

Their debut self titled album captures the excitement and energy of their live shows.

Event Description: The Dirty Hands described themselves on Facebook as being “displaced Georgians, mostly” and their music as being influenced by “yesterday and the days before it.” As vague as this introduction may be, it turns out to be quite appropriate. Not only is the band new to the Alaskan music scene, but they’re also new enough as a band that they are still determining how best to describe themselves and their sound to the public.

The raw, gritty, delta sound that these young artists are pushing out is worthy of an 80 year old blues man…

Event Description: Based in Anchorage Alaska, Superfrequency began in early 2008 when longtime musical collaborators Nick Petumenos and Ivan Night joined with drummer Lee Thompson to work on bringing their original music ideas to fruition. After going through many different bassists, David Nathanson joined the group in the summer of 2009 and the core of Superfrequency was formed. In 2010 The band started adding live horns into the mix. The current horn section consists of Anthony Reed on trombone, Logan Bean on trumpet and Tyler Desjarlais on saxophone. What is unique to Superfrequency is that there are 3 lead singers/writers, each with their own distinctive style. This gives the band a very eclectic, diverse sound that spans the musical spectrum from rock and funk to reggae, jazz and Latin and just about everything in between. All the members of Superfrequeny play/have played in many other well established bands. Superfrquency is a collaborative band where everyone works to help better each other at their craft and bring each others musical ideas into reality.
