ORION DONICHT

Over the years Donicht also learned that “it’s hard as a single guy with a guitar to keep people’s attention for two hours,” he says. As a result, he works to keep his shows, and his “post-punk Americana” style, interesting. At a recent Anchorage show, he kept busy with a kick drum and a high hat, banging out a beat with his feet while he played guitar. Donicht also likes to bring guest musicians up on stage-including his wife, Metis, who plays the slide guitar. “You want to keep it interesting,” he says. “I remember when I was 16 and I was practicing in the living room and my mom said, ‘man, there’s nothing more boring than sitting around with a bunch of dudes playing the guitar.’”
